Known for working with legendary artists such as David Bowie, Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, and Marc Bolan, Meek's fingerprints are all over some of the most iconic music of the era.
Joe Meek was a flamboyant, mercurial character who crafted the sound of modern music - working with David Bowie, Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Marc Bolan and many more.
Throughout the film we will hear from these legendary artists about how Joe helped shape and launch their stellar career - alongside numerous renowned producers and industry players - Trevor Horn CBE (Buggles, Ivor Novello Award winner) and Sylvia Massey (Prince, Red Hot Chilli Peppers).
In a unique past-meets-present creative experience, the project will bring contemporary music stars into the studio to create brand new songs using never-released Joe Meek instrumentals.
The film will expose the dark underbelly of London during the swinging 60s, why Joe has remained such an enduring cult figure within the music industry, what it was like to be a criminalised homosexual at that time and will explore the continued influence Joe has on the world he left behind.
